As far as his solo endeavours go, Bridges is his ninth studio effort, following on from the magnificent I Found The Sun Again in 2021. KISS have long since sealed their place in the pantheon of rock after their appearances in the 2015 direct-to-DVD classic Scooby Doo and KISS: Rock n Roll Mystery and with their inclusion in Tony Hawk’s Underground. Early despatches suggested that Steve Lukather’s latest solo album might merely be a continuation of Toto especially with the contributions of several band members.

While not a rock album or paint by number representation of Lukather’s career, this assemblage of eight tracks is exactly what fans want and need… new music that lets us all bask in the talent that is Steve. It could have been a classic Toto track at any period of their career, but aside from that fantasy, it’s pure Lukather, hooks aplenty with visually inducing atmospheric guitar tones.

He has also affirmed that it's a great and fun song to play, that he loves the lyrics and the vibe of the song, and that "not a lot of people have done it" as far as he knows.

Lukather sang lead, played guitars and bass, and the lead vocal, both Paich and Williams played keyboards, the latte adding background vocals and percussion, with Shannon Forrest on drums. Over the course of Lukather’s career, both Stan Lynch and Randy Goodrum have frequently co-written with him. the LIII model also debuted Lukather's switch from EMG to custom DiMarzio "Transition" model pickups. Lukather won three of his five Grammy Awards for work with Toto, twice as an artist and once as a producer.

Lukather's sixth studio album, All's Well That Ends Well, was released on October 11, 2010, in Europe and Japan, and November 16 as a digital download worldwide. In 2013 Lukather changed to a roasted maple neck with a rosewood fret board, citing the exceptional stability of roasted maple while touring as a factor in his decision.When Lukather's record company, Bop City Records, approached him about recording a Christmas album, he responded with a quip about his suitability for the project.
