About this deal

The Halti head harness describes itself as giving the owner full control by gently directing and steering your dog from the front.

If you own a dog that is a problem puller, then the HALTI harness will definitely help you teach your dog to walk more calmly by your side. Well, I'm around 5 feet and I say this to give context to the length of the lead because it's very long, in fact even my husband thinks this is the case and he's taller than me (to be fair, most people are).

What is a Halti?

Australian Cattle Dog/Bedlington Terrier/Scottish Terrier/Shar Pei/Staffie/Vizsla/Standard Schnauzer

The Halti headcollar, and other equivalents sold under different names have become a reasonably common sight in the UK, as many dog owners find that a Halti provides more control and helps to curb pulling on the lead better than a standard collar or harness. In this article, we will look at whether or not you can-or should-use a Halti on a puppy, some of the plusses and minuses of doing so, and alternative options to explore. Read on to learn more. What is a Halti? It has reflective accents for improved visibility in low light and a safety link that attaches to your dog’s collar for complete peace of mind.

How Does a Halti Work?

Dog head halters are a piece of equipment, like a no-pull harness, that just makes it easier to walk your dog. I vastly prefer dog head halters and no-pull harnesses over choke or prong collars. The potential for pain and damage from these first two pieces of equipment is much lower. It's mostly a preventative measure needed for short bursts so I feel happier, quite honestly, and a few months ago I asked to review the HALTI No-Pull Harness.

If you’ve got a dog who pulls hard on the leash and can be hard to control, a dog head halter can really help you regain control on your walks. Mostly, it gave me peace of mind and a little confidence that I probably had a little more control to combat their strength if/when needed, the reality might have been different. I only ever walk one dog at a time on my own so it's always a mission to get one out before the other two become aware of the other one's absence, so I thought by working the HALTI out, I could do that much easier.Because the Halti passes over the muzzle of the dog, they are often thought of as being a type of muzzle, to keep the mouth closed at all times and restrict the movement of the mouth. However, the Halti should not be thought of as a muzzle, and this is not its main purpose when working with your dog. What does the Halti do?
